Bridge was derived from the 17th century card game Whist and has been evolving ever since. Contract Bridge (sometimes called Party Bridge) developed in the 1920s and was the final step in historical progression from Whist to Bridge Whist to Auction Bridge to Contract Bridge. There seems to be a resurgence of interest in Bridge, especially at WCP because we have TWO Bridge Groups!
Daytime Bridge Group meets the third Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in members’ homes. We play two or three tables depending upon who is available. This is a great group to refresh your forgotten skills and perhaps learn a few new ones along the way.
Evening Bridge Group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in members’ homes. We play two tables and have subs in reserve. Seasoned players are the main-stay of this group but they are always eager to have others join them.
