Bridge Groups

bridge groups

Bridge was derived from the 17th century card game Whist and has been evolving ever since.  Contract Bridge, (sometimes called Party Bridge), developed in the 1920s and was the final step in historical progression from Whist to Bridge Whist to Auction Bridge to Contract Bridge. There seems to be a resurgence of interest in Bridge, especially at Women’s Club of Powell because we have two Bridge Groups!

Bridge – Daytime

This group meets on the third Monday of the month at 1:00 pm in members’ homes. Initially we began several years ago to teach bridge, but now we have experienced players and common conventions. We play two or three tables each time depending on who is available. Subs are always welcome to be added to the list and are used often. If you are interested please contact Leader Sue Stiles

 Bridge – Evening

This group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm in members’ homes.  We play two tables and have subs in reserve.  This is a group for experienced bridge players. If you are interested please contact Leader Sharon McManis.
